Motorcycle Theory Exam Licence A
Before you can start with your motorcycle driving lessons, you must first pass the motorcycle theory exam and get your CBR certificate. You can apply for this via your driving school or directly with the CBR. You should be at least 17 years old when taking the motor theory exam. Do you already have a valid driver’s license or a military theory certificate A? Then you can start your motorcycle practical training rightaway!
The motorcycle theory exam is meant to test your knowledge on traffic rules and whether you have traffic insight. This way you can safely hit the road. The exam for your motorcycle license consists of 50 questions and two test questions, and you are allowed to make a maximum of 6 mistakes.
How does it work?
Make sure to show up at the CBR exam center 15 minutes in advance. At the exam center, you follow these steps:
1. Register at the registration desk
Enter your reservation number and check your details. This number can be found in the letter or e-mail you received.
2. Wait for your turn
Wait in the waiting area and follow the instructions on the screens. You will see your reservation number with your status behind it. As soon as it indicates ‘start exam’, it is your turn.
3. Check in
Here an employee will check your ID and you will receive your table number. If you are bothered by noise, earplugs are available. You can take this yourself when entering the examination room from the holder that hangs on the wall.
4. The motorcycle theory exam
Take a seat in the exam room at the table with the correct table number. Put your ID on the table and enter your reservation number. Check if your e-mail address is correct and then select “Start”. Follow the instructions on the screen.
5. End of exam
You will immediately receive your result after completing the exam. You will then also receive the result of your exam by e-mail, within approximately 15 minutes.

Congratulations! Your theory certificate is valid for 1.5 years from this moment on. - Did you fail?
In the e-mail with your result, you will also receive the result form on which you can see which exam subjects you know well and which are less well known. This is useful in preparation for a possible re-exam. Better luck next time!

- Use a theory book to learn your theory exam. Please note that it is a recent book, traffic rules are subject to change.
