The moped licence tests
To obtain a moped driving licence (category AM) in The Netherlands you must take a CBR Moped Theory Test and an on-road CBR Riding Test. You can reserve a slot for the CBR Theory Test from 15 years of age onwards, but you can only take this test when you are 15,5. You must have passed this test before you can take the moped riding course or the CBR Moped Riding Test; you can apply for the CBR Moped Riding Test when you are 15, but only take this test when 16!
These tests are the same for the light-moped (blue registration plate) as well as the moped (yellow registration plate) with either an automatic or manual transmission and powered by a petrol or an electric engine.

How many driving lessons do I need on average as a beginner?
The number of driving lessons required differs per person. As a beginner you will need an average of 6 to 10 hours to obtain their moped driving license. Students who already have driving experience take much less lessons.
How do I schedule new driving lessons?
Did you do a trial lesson? Are you satisfied and do you want to schedule lessons? Please contact our customer service and we will schedule the lessons together. This can be done by telephone or e-mail. We always advise to schedule lessons for the coming weeks. This way you can be sure that there is enough availabilities.
Is it possible to take lessons in the evenings and weekends?
We offer classes 7 days a week from 08:00 to 20:00. However, each instructor has his or her own work schedule. We try to schedule your classes during the trial lesson with the instructor whose schedule fits you the best. This way you can enjoy flexible lessons.
Where can I be picked up?
What can I expect of the practical exam?
The exam takes place at the CBR, Naritaweg 150 in Amsterdam. We make an appointment for this about the time and date when you will meet the instructor.
The exam takes approximately between 20 to 30 minutes. If you can show your skills and drive the scooter safely and independently without any problems, you will pass your practical exam.
Do I always have the same instructor during my driving lessons?
At SafeLes driving school you always have your own, fixed instructor. We do this so that you get to know each other well and a relationship of trust arises. Your driving instructor guides you in a patient, careful and focused manner to the practical exam, paying attention to your personal learning points. Everything is explained clearly and expertly and there is also room for pleasant conversations. This makes your driving lesson effective and fun! It is also possible to take driving lessons in another language.
Do I have the option to take driving lessons with a female driving instructor?
